I was diagnosed with an intracranial meningioma behind my left ear. Dr Koga and his staff were very professional and kind. Being told you have a brain tumor is terrifying, but they were able to inform me of my options in a way that comforted me. My family and I were able to ask as many questions as we needed to feel secure with the upcoming surgery and my recovery... I was also pleased that Dr Koga not only removed the tumor completely, he did so in a way which resulted in quick healing with very little trauma or scarring. I believe medicine is both art and science. I offer my patients the very latest technologies, but I refuse to allow the industrialization of healthcare. Neurological diseases are very daunting and are often accompanied by psychological and family stress. The best results emerge when the surgeon and the patient are in a true partnership. We give each patient careful explanations of the anatomy and the surgical approach in each case. For many years I displayed in my office a copy of this painting of the Tower of Babel by Pieter Bruegel the Elder c. 1563. It is symbolic of the broken state of the current healthcare system in which insurance agencies, hospitals and doctors cannot work towards a common goal. Every day my staff and I do everything in our power to overcome this chaos on behalf of our patients!
